Thank you, I've just updated the post. I think I've mentioned that Aptana is a RoR IDE, but I've completely forgotten Netbeans: here it goes.

Since you mention it freakface, what's cool in 4D? I could not make my mind about that one. Can you give me a three lines review of what's there and what's not?

And one other thing: I think you should probably also mention 4D's 4D Ajax Framework , which is probably better than WaveMaker in that the development tools are much, much more mature.

The thing that I really, REALLY like about Morfik is that it isn't just an IDE, but also a RAD tool. It abstracts everything, making it feel like a typical C/S environment. It supports Java, ObjectPascal, BASIC, and C syntax for the high-level code you write, plus you can drop widgets in from other frameworks to customize it. Then on top of that it builds the web pages, the web server, and the database server for you, so all you do is work on the actual application. All the lower level things are done automatically.

While I like using some of the other tools you mentioned, especially Aptana, it isn't a RAD tool. It can't tie all the pieces together for you, build and bundle all the components, etc. It is a nice editor for HTML, JS, and Ruby, but ultimately it's a typical editor - a glorified IDE.
