It abstracts everything, making it feel like a typical C/S environment. It supports Java, ObjectPascal, BASIC, and C syntax for the high-level code you write, plus you can drop widgets in from other frameworks to customize it. Then on top of that it builds the web pages, the web server, and the database server for you, so all you do is work on the actual application. All the lower level things are done automatically.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;While I like using some of the other tools you mentioned, especially Aptana, it isn't a RAD tool. It can't tie all the pieces together for you, build and bundle all the components, etc. It is a nice editor for HTML, JS, and Ruby, but ultimately it's a typical editor - a glorified IDE.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7557844718326912626/477181880839660042/comments/default/2910145680435482010'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7557844718326912626/477181880839660042/comments/default/2910145680435482010'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.oversighting.com/2008/03/web-20-ides.html?showComment=1204401600000#c2910145680435482010' title=''/><author><name>freakface</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/01190441267178393255</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.oversighting.com/2008/03/web-20-ides.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557844718326912626.post-477181880839660042' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/7557844718326912626/posts/default/477181880839660042' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-88760657'/></entry></feed>
